Blood Drive Slated for March 18 at Palmdale City Hall

PALMDALE - The City of Palmdale will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, March 18 from 9 am to 3 pm at Poncitlán Square, across from City Hall.  The American Red Cross’ Bloodmobile will be available for blood donations.

Interested persons are encouraged to register by calling 661/267-5229.

“There is a tremendous need for blood in the Antelope Valley,” said Administrative Technician and Blood Drive Coordinator Kathy Inman. “We’re encouraging our City of Palmdale employees and residents in the community to take just a few minutes of their time and make a difference in someone’s life by making a blood donation at our blood drive.”

Statistics show that three lives can be saved for every pint of blood that is donated.

A total of 28 pints of blood were collected at the City of Palmdale’s first blood drive of 2010, which was held on Thursday, Jan. 14.  In 2009, the City’s three blood drives collected a total of 98 pints of blood, which could save a total of 294 lives.

For more information, call Kathy Inman at 661/267-5229.
