Antelop Valley Press, Tuesday March 30, 2010. Ads conjure 'Red Scare', that was Written by Bob Wilson and Craig Currier, Valley Press staff writers .... Are we missing the point or what? Mayor Parris traveled to China recently to conjure up a business relationship with the Chinese attempting to bring industry to the AV and Lancaster. A nobel cause as we desperatley need industry and jobs that pay more than minimum wage and provide a reason for many of the Valley professionals to not make the trip down below and work here.
The Antelope Valley Press article spends alot of time and paper real estate pointing out that the Democrates were not exactly responsible with this type of advertisement and I agree that coming from any party that this type of redoric is less than responsible and really does not accomplish anything when said and done.
To the point of Chinese industry in Lancaster and the AV, well at a time in our history when we are trying to recover from the biggest national financial down turn since the great depression I would like to think that we would address issues rather than politics and try to be somewhat self serving and grown up about this. Through all the political back and fourth I have not heard one person or media outlet ask the most basic question ... Why are we looking for technology and investment from China to begin with. You would think we would want to keep our investments and technology USA grown. If I was a Democrat running for office and investing in a commercail spot that would be my first question.
So I think we should ask Rex and his campaign "Why technology from China" , Why not Arizona?
We clearly missed the issue, The AV Press missed it, Democratic Mayoral Candidate Arnold Rodio ..... well who knows what he was thinking and I'm not really sure what to say about the judgement of Time Warner to air it. I think the quest for the all might dollar is clouding our vision.
